Anthropic files for Nasdaq IPO, with debut planned for next month
- Anthropic filed to list on Nasdaq under ticker ANT, with a debut planned for next month; the offering could raise as much as $100 billion, though its size and valuation remain uncertain.
- The company reported $11.56 billion in second-quarter revenue, up from $787 million a year earlier, and $974 million in operating income after five quarters of operating losses; it held nearly $132 billion in cash, equivalents and short-term investments at June’s end.
- Anthropic’s business depends heavily on a small group of customers: five enterprise customers account for a quarter of its business, while its enterprise customer base grew from about 1,500 to nearly 12,000 in a year.
- The filing highlights steep computing costs and reliance on chipmakers and cloud providers; nearly half of Anthropic’s revenue comes through cloud divisions at Microsoft, Amazon and Alphabet.
