Pentagon Implements New Battlefield Assessments for General Promotions

The Joint Warfighting Evaluation (JWE) will assess senior officers' military problem-solving skills under simulated combat conditions.
Starting in fiscal year 2027, the JWE will supplement existing performance evaluations for promotion boards.
Each military branch has developed its own version of the JWE, with varying formats from online simulations to in-person wargames.
