NYC Bans AI Tools for Elementary and Middle School Students

New York City public schools will ban AI tools for students through 8th grade for one year.
The ban is part of a broader initiative to evaluate technology use among younger students.
High school students will receive AI literacy classes and supervised access to certain AI platforms.
Screen time limits are recommended, capping usage at 30 minutes for grades 3-5 and 45 minutes for grades 6-8.
