Pentagon Reports Continued Decrease in Sexual Assaults and Increase in Reporting Among Troops

The Pentagon reported 7,998 official sexual assault cases in FY 2025, down from 8,195 in FY 2024.
The prevalence of unwanted sexual contact among active duty women decreased from 6.8% in FY 2023 to 4.3% in FY 2025, and for men from 1.3% to 1%.
The rate of reporting increased from 25% in FY 2023 to 33% in FY 2025, indicating improved confidence among service members to come forward.
