Gov. Larry Rhoden Wins Historic GOP Primary Runoff in South Dakota

Larry Rhoden won the first gubernatorial primary runoff in South Dakota history, defeating Toby Doeden after both failed to secure a majority in the initial primary.
Rhoden became governor in early 2025, taking over from Kristi Noem, and is now aiming for his first full term.
He will face Democrat Dan Ahlers in the November general election, a significant challenge in a state that has not elected a Democratic governor since 1979.
