U.S. Education Department Investigates Smith College for Admitting Trans Women

The U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights has launched an investigation into Smith College for potentially violating Title IX by admitting trans women.
The inquiry follows a complaint from the conservative group Defending Education, which argues that Title IX prohibits trans women from attending women's colleges.
Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Kimberly Richey stated that admitting biological males undermines the meaning of an all-women's college and raises concerns about privacy and fairness.
