Protesters Demand Release of Beagles at Wisconsin Governor's Office

Around 1,000 animal welfare activists protested outside Governor Tony Evers' office, chanting for the release of 2,000 beagles from Ridglan Farms.
Protesters clashed with police at Ridglan Farms, resulting in 29 arrests and accusations of excessive force, including the use of tear gas and rubber bullets.
Ridglan Farms has denied animal cruelty allegations but agreed to surrender its breeding license as part of a legal settlement, effective July 1.
U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan urged state officials to develop a safe release plan for the beagles to prevent overcrowding in placement facilities.
