Justice Department rejects pipe bomb defendant's claim for Trump pardon

Brian Cole Jr. is accused of planting pipe bombs outside party headquarters before the January 6 Capitol riot.
His lawyers claim the charges should be dismissed under Trump's pardons for January 6 rioters, but the Justice Department disagrees.
Prosecutors state Cole's actions were not related to the Capitol events on January 6, 2021, and thus not eligible for pardons.
A hearing on Cole's motion has not yet been scheduled, but a status hearing is set for April 21.
